Regulations

(Note that the numbers below reflect the current 9 cities format.)

Player’s eligibility

To be eligible to play in APC a player must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an expatriate living in the city he wants to play for.
  • A city team may only recruit expatriate players from that nominated city. The only exception to this rule is Manila which can recruit players from Angeles City as approved by the APC Organizers. Should a city wish to recruit players from another city in their country, it must apply for an approval.
  • He must have a long-term visa or permanent residency in that country.
  • He must have spent at least 180 days in that country over the past year (365 days).
  • He must not be a professional or ex-professional player. No player who has been ranked 300 or below on the WPA website is eligible to play in APC.

To qualify for the Super Singles, a player must meet these additional criteria, on top of the ones above:

  • Have played a minimum of 12 frames (out of a maximum 16) in the previous year team event.
  • Must also participate in this year team event.
  • Apart from that it is up to each city to decide how they want to select their 2 Singles players.

Events rankings

For the Super Singles event:

  • The 18 players are separated into 2 conferences, so 9 players (one per city) in each conference.
  • The quarter finalists will then play 5 frames, the semi-finalists will play 7 frames, 3rd and 4th place contestants 7 frames and the grand finalists 9 frames.
  • In the preliminary round they play a round-robin 3 frames against all the players in their conference, where the winner of each match is awarded 3 points, after which the top 4 in each conference advance to the quarter finals based on:
    • Most points.
    • In the event of a tie on points after the preliminary round, the winner will be the player who won when these two players met during that preliminary round.
    • If more than 2 players were tied on points, then the frames difference (Won and Lost) will be taken into account.

For the Team event:

  • The 18 teams are separated into 2 conferences, so 9 teams (one per city) in each conference.
  • These team will play a round-robin 12 frames match against each team in their conference.
  • 30 minutes before every match, the team captain or manager submits his list of 6 players in order, who will then each play 2 frames.
  • Teams may substitute a player from the previous match prior to advising the list of players for the next match. Players who have been substituted may re-enter at any match thereafter. However once a player has played for a team that player can only play for that team, for example once a player has played for Bangkok 1 he cannot play for Bangkok 2.
  • The final rankings are determined based on the number of frames won by each city, so the total of their 2 teams.
  • In the event of a tie, the city that had the best head-to-head record in these cities matches will be given the higher ranking. If still tied, then both teams will be awarded the same position.
